Sessions/Tracks
Track 1: Dermatology
Dermatology is the field of study, research, diagnosis, and treatment related to medical disorders of the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. A dermatologist, a medical specialist in this domain, focuses on the body's largest organ - the skin. The skin not only shields internal organs from harm but also serves as a valuable indicator of overall health, making dermatology vital for diagnosing and treating various illnesses.
Track 2: Cosmetic Dermatology
Cosmetic dermatology involves enhancing and beautifying the skin, hair, and nails. It addresses both therapeutic dermatological issues and aesthetic concerns. Cosmetic dermatologists, specialists with expertise in attending to patients' aesthetic needs, employ techniques such as Botox, collagen injections, chemical peels, cosmetic surgery, laser treatment, and liposuction.
Track 3: Vitamin Disorders of Skin
This track explores the correlation between vitamin deficiencies and skin conditions like hyperpigmentation, vitiligo, angular stomatitis, and hair alterations. Vitamin B12 insufficiency is linked to skin lesions, often indicating malabsorption. Additionally, vitamin A deficiency is examined, with potential consequences including respiratory infections, infertility, night blindness, and skin irritations.
Track 4: Skin Disorders
Skin disorders, also known as dermatoses, encompass a wide range of conditions affecting the integumentary system. Despite numerous skin conditions, only a handful account for the majority of doctor visits. Eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, ichthyosis, vitiligo, and hives are among the prevalent skin disorders discussed in this track.
Track 5: Skin Infections
Focusing on the body's largest organ, this track addresses skin infections caused by various microorganisms. Bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic skin infections are explored, ranging from mild to severe symptoms. The track emphasizes the importance of differentiating between infections that can be treated at home and those requiring medical attention.
Track 6: Immunodermatology
Immunodermatology delves into the role of the skin as an immune organ in health and disease. Areas of interest include inflammatory diseases, autoimmune skin conditions, and the immunology of microbial skin infections. Emerging treatments, such as TNF-Alpha biological inhibitors and chemokine receptor inhibitors, are discussed in the context of general immunological skin disorders.
Track 7: Dermato-oncology
Dermato-oncology, a subspecialty of dermatology, focuses on the detection, diagnosis, and surgical removal of skin cancers. Micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, and specific cancers like basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell tumor, and skin-related T-cell lymphoma are highlighted in this track.
Track 8: Pollution and Proto-oncogenes
Exploring the skin's susceptibility to pollution, this track discusses studies indicating epigenetic changes caused by pollution. The impact on DNA, such as changes in methylation patterns, is examined. Various genes are identified as susceptible to damage from environmental pollution.
Track 9: New Ways of Skin Cancer Diagnosis & Detection
This track discusses innovative approaches for the early detection of skin cancer. Beyond traditional skin biopsy, precision imaging technology, Dermtech Melanoma Test, and AI in skin cancer detection are explored as promising methods for diagnosis and detection.
Track 10: Skin Cancer Treatment
The treatment of skin cancers, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and biological therapy, is detailed in this track. Emphasizing the importance of early detection, the track discusses the different treatment modalities for various types of skin cancers.
Track 11: Cell Carcinoma
This track focuses on squamous cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. Discussions include Mohs surgery, cryosurgery, curettage and electrodesiccation, laser surgery, and radiation as treatment options.
Track 12: Melanoma
Malignant melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer originating from melanocytes, is explored in this track. Different types, including superficial spreading melanoma, nodular melanoma, lentigo maligna melanoma, and acral lentiginous melanoma, are discussed, emphasizing the urgency of early treatment.
Track 13: Cancer Biology
This track delves into the characteristics of cancer cells, which exhibit uncontrolled growth and can spread to other parts of the body. Limitless replicative potential, sustained angiogenesis, tissue invasion and metastasis, emerging hallmarks, and enabling characteristics of cancer are discussed.
Track 14: Cosmetology and Cosmeceuticals
Examining the evolution of the cosmetic sector and its engagement with dermatologists, this track highlights the shift towards aesthetic dermatology and dermatologic surgery, with less emphasis on medical dermatology.
Track 15: Sun Exposure and Skin Cancer Risk Factors
Addressing the impact of ultraviolet radiation on the skin and its role in skin cancer development, this track explores risk factors such as family history and skin type. Strategies for reducing sun exposure and preventing skin cancer are discussed.
Track 16: Skin Aging and Anti-Aging Strategies
Focusing on the physiological changes in the skin as it ages, this track explores lifestyle and medical interventions to slow the aging process. Skincare products, minimally invasive procedures, cosmetic surgery, and emerging research on anti-aging treatments are discussed.
Track 17: Teledermatology and Artificial Intelligence in Dermatology
This track highlights the role of technology in diagnosing and managing skin diseases, covering telemedicine, virtual consultations, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in dermatology practice. Benefits, challenges, and potential impacts on patient outcomes and healthcare delivery are discussed.
Track 18: Photodermatology and Phototherapy
Exploring light-based treatments for dermatologic conditions, this track covers phototherapy for chronic skin diseases and aesthetic treatments such as laser resurfacing. The science behind these treatments, including different wavelengths and types of light, is discussed along with safety and efficacy considerations.
Track 19: Dermatologic Surgery and Reconstruction
This track focuses on the surgical management of skin cancer and dermatologic conditions, including Mohs micrographic surgery, skin grafting, flap reconstruction, and advancements in surgical techniques and technologies.
Track 20: Dermatopathology and Diagnosis of Skin Lesions
Covering the microscopic evaluation of skin samples, this track discusses the role of pathology in diagnosing and managing skin diseases. Topics include different types of skin biopsies, processing and interpreting skin samples, and emerging areas of research in dermatopathology such as molecular testing and immunohistochemistry.
