Hair and Scalp Disorders

Hair and scalp disorders can result from inflammatory, hormonal, genetic, nutritional, and autoimmune factors. This topic will explore the diagnosis and management of common forms of hair loss and scalp disease. Participants will discuss alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, scarring alopecias, and other conditions. Trichoscopy and other diagnostic techniques can improve assessment of hair and scalp disorders. Medical and procedural treatment options will be reviewed according to the underlying cause. The psychological and social consequences of hair loss will also be addressed. Emerging therapies and regenerative approaches represent areas of growing clinical interest. Accurate diagnosis and individualized long-term management will remain central to effective care.
