Paediatric Dermatology and Childhood Skin Disorders

Paediatric dermatology requires specialized approaches because children's skin differs in structure and function from adult skin. This topic will explore common inflammatory, infectious, genetic, and congenital skin disorders in children. Participants will discuss approaches to diagnosing challenging paediatric dermatological conditions. Atopic dermatitis, acne, birthmarks, vascular anomalies, and inherited disorders will be considered. The safe selection and dosing of dermatological treatments in children will be emphasized. The psychological impact of visible skin conditions on children and families will also be addressed. Early recognition of serious or potentially life-threatening disorders will be highlighted. Family-centred and age-appropriate dermatological care will be promoted.
